Ava Maria

The "Holy" letter M with a crown on top for Virgin Mary has been used since the Middle Ages. After the reformation, the general symbolism was forgotten so imaginative transformations like this pendant evolved. Often the letters M or A ("Ave Maria") were put in a ring so that they could serve as a eyelet. This type of jewelry have been used by Sámi people for hundreds of years, even before they were introduced to Christianity

This "Ava Maria" Sterling Silver pendant was inspired by a broach created by the Norwegian designer Frank Juhls.
 The style can be described as a harmonious union between modernist design and traditional Sámi crafts.
